CalPac helps Pardee Homes support Home Aid Charity 2011
HomeAid Southern Nevada kicked-off 2011’s Project Playhouse: PET EDITION in May 2011, which featured nine one-of-a-kind pet houses on display in a fundraiser to benefit housing for today’s homeless.
CalPac teamed up with Pardee Homes, helping them paint
the dog house “Green Dog”. The dog house was on display from May 4, 2011 through June 4, 2011at Children’s Park in Town Square, located at 6611 Las Vegas Blvd., South. The goal was to raise $30,000 for HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for homeless. The organization builds and renovates multi-unit shelters for America’s temporarily homeless families and individuals, more than one million of whom are children.
The “Green Dog” doghouse design featured many sustainable items, including roof-mounted solar panels to generate power for lighting and automatic water and feeding system.

“Ms Sherrie Hermann” or “Ms. Fix it”??
An association of 4 years: Cal Pac, NAWIC and the Girl Scouts
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Las Vegas Chapter 74 collaborated with the Girl Scouts of Frontier Council in 2007. Since then each year, NAWIC and the Girl Scouts host workshops to educate the girls on careers in construction, along with assisting them to earn their “Ms. Fix It” badge. CalPac has been a part of this association for 4 years now.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011, 42 Girl Scouts participated in 6 hands-on construction related stations that had them building, planting, installing, painting and learning the tools and trades of Women in Construction. In addition to their “Ms. Fix-It” badge they experienced proper fire extinguisher usage, landscaping techniques and drip irrigation knowledge, complete doorknob installation, PVC pipe construction (that doubled as handy little marshmallow shooters); additionally they were taught how to properly use hammer and nails which helped them complete their very own tool boxes to take with them along with their newly acquired painting skills.
Kiwani CPR training
